Sahara Invasion
Sahara Invasion puts one or two tanks between an enemy invasion and a base in a desert maze. You have to divide your attention between the tanks approaching you and the ones finding a route around your defenses.
How to play Sahara Invasion
- Choose one or two players, then Easy, Normal, Medium or Hard. The main campaign has 120 levels, with a boss tank joining the attack every tenth level.
- Player 1 controls the green tank with W, A, S and D, and presses Space to fire. In a one-player game, the arrow keys also move this tank.
- Player 2 controls the blue tank with the arrow keys and presses Insert to fire. Both players share the same device.
- On a touchscreen, hold a direction button to move and tap the fire button to shoot. Turn your device sideways.
- Each press of a fire key or button fires one shot or burst. Wait for those bullets to hit something or leave the battlefield before firing again.
- Destroy the whole enemy wave to advance. If a bullet reaches your base, the battle ends immediately, even with spare tanks left. Your own shots can destroy the base and its surrounding brick walls too.
- Each player starts a new campaign with ten spare tanks. An unshielded hit or collision with an enemy destroys your current tank and removes its upgrades. You respawn while replacements remain; in two-player mode, an eliminated player can use the partner's reserves.
- Defeating enemy tanks and collecting bonuses earn points. Each level starts with three possible medals, and every tank you lose removes one. You can still clear a level with no medals.
- Star pickups upgrade your tank one step, up to type 4; a gun pickup takes it straight there. This final type fires armor-piercing shells that can break steel blocks and clear palm trees.
- A helmet gives temporary shielding, and 1UP adds a spare tank. A shovel rebuilds the walls around your base in steel for 18 seconds; a bomb destroys the enemies currently on the battlefield.
- A clock slows enemy movement and stops them firing for 10 seconds. A snowflake turns water into a temporary crossing, but a tank left over the water as it thaws sinks.
- To build your own maps, open the grid button on the main menu and switch from ORIGIN to USER. Select a map cell, then choose a block to put there. Custom maps save as you edit.
Tips
- Leave the brick enclosure around your base intact when opening a route. Shooting through it gives enemies a clear line to the one target you cannot replace.
- Move back onto dry land as soon as the ice starts fading. Some ice remains visible after the water becomes dangerous again, so waiting until it disappears can cost a tank.
- Once you reach type 4, move out of enemy firing lines earlier. This upgrade moves more slowly than type 3.
Clear the next battlefield with your base still standing.
