Boat Rush runs a speedboat up a river across four levels, and it does have an end: clear the fourth and the game is finished. Everything in the water kills on contact, you carry a small number of shots for the things you cannot steer around, and the coins and stars you pick up survive the crash and go into the shop.

How to play Boat Rush

  • Steer with the Left and Right arrow keys, or tap the left and right sides of the screen. The boat powers forward on its own and speeds up the longer you last.
  • Rocks, mines, lasers, holes, enemy boats and missile-firing helicopters all end the run on contact.
  • Press Spacebar or the shoot button to fire. You start with three shots and pick up more, and a couple of hits clears a rock or an enemy out of the way.
  • Power-ups float in the river: a shield to survive a hit, a revive to carry on after one, a magnet that pulls in pickups, doubles on coins and on stars, and a speed rush.
  • Ride the ramps to leap over trouble you cannot shoot or steer past.
  • Coins and stars are two separate currencies and both carry over between runs. The shop spends them on five boats and four upgrades.
  • There are four levels, and finishing the last one completes the game.

Tips

  • Keep two shots in reserve at all times. The hazard that kills you is the one you meet with an empty gun and no lane free to move into.
  • Take the magnet whenever it appears. It is the only pickup that keeps paying after the run has ended, because what it gathers goes to the shop.
  • The shield and the revive are the only two things standing between one touch and the end of the run, so spend them on the crowded stretches rather than saving them for later.
  • Hold your line once the speed climbs. Most crashes come from a panicked correction rather than from the obstacle that caused it.

Can you get the boat all the way through the fourth level?
