Tic Tac Toe Online turns noughts and crosses into a series of quick rounds against the computer or a friend sharing your device. Larger custom boards give you room to build longer lines, but also more places for an opponent to create a threat.
How to play Tic Tac Toe Online
- Choose One Player for the computer or Two Players to take turns on the same device. Click or tap an empty square to place your mark.
- Classic uses a 3×3 board: connect three marks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Custom lets you choose a board from 3×3 to 8×8 and a winning line of three to five marks, no longer than the board's width. Marks in the line must be consecutive.
- A win adds one point to that player's score. A full board with no winning line is a draw and gives neither player a point.
- The match lasts three minutes across all rounds. After a win or draw, the board clears and the starting player switches, but the clock keeps running. When time runs out, the match ends.
Tips
- If you make the first move in Classic, try the centre. It belongs to four possible winning lines, compared with two for an edge square.
- Try a 5×5 board with four needed to win. Build three consecutive marks with an empty square at each end: unless your opponent can win immediately, blocking one end still leaves you the other.
