Metro 2039 Release Date, Platforms and 60 FPS Support

Metro 2039 launches February 4, 2027, with February 5 listed for some territories including Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Deep Silver has announced a 60 FPS Performance Mode for PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X. Xbox Series S is supported, but its performance target is still unannounced.

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC.
Preorders: opening later in 2026; no exact opening date or price yet.
Game type: single-player, story-driven first-person shooter from 4A Games.

Use the release date shown by your regional store when planning to play. Exact unlock times have not been published, so the two calendar dates do not establish which region gets access first.

Which consoles get the 60 FPS mode?

The standard PS5 is included; this is not a Pro-only mode. Deep Silver's announcement covers:

The September 3 footage was captured on PS5 Pro, so it is not a comparison of all three consoles. Their shared 60 FPS target does not establish identical image quality or a locked frame rate. Resolution targets and other graphics modes remain to be detailed.

Is Metro 2039 included with Game Pass?

No Game Pass catalog release has been announced. The Xbox page requires both an eligible subscription—Essential, Premium or Ultimate—and a separate game purchase for cloud play. The subscription provides the streaming access in that offer; it does not supply the game.

Playing on both Xbox and PC? Look for the Xbox Play Anywhere edition before buying. An eligible digital Xbox/Windows Store purchase or qualifying retailer code covers both, with shared saves on the same account. Buying on Steam or Epic does not give you that Xbox console copy.

PC requirements and Steam Deck support

Minimum and recommended PC requirements, install size, upscaling support and Steam Deck compatibility are unannounced. Wait for those details before buying hardware for this game: its use of ray tracing does not tell you which graphics card will meet your target, and Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition's requirements belong to a different game.

What is in the Collector's Edition?

Deep Silver has revealed a wearable replica of the Stranger's battle-scarred Spartan helmet, based on his in-game 3D model. The Collector's preview does not yet give the full contents, price or regional availability.

Joining the mailing list does not reserve a copy or place an order. It provides ordering announcements; the associated giveaway has separate entry terms.

What the official demo survival guide confirms

Deep Silver's event page contains a Survival Guide for a modified mid-story demo. It gives these practical instructions; they describe that demo, not a tested walkthrough of the final release:

Watch the gas-mask warning, not just the timer. Orange or red warnings mean more dangerous conditions and faster filter depletion. Spare filters can be scavenged or crafted in the backpack.
Keep the Shatun pumped. This pneumatic weapon needs pumping to maintain its power; ammunition alone is not enough.
Secondary ammunition has an exception. The guide says to hold reload to switch, but the Shatun instead needs a magazine change through the backpack.
Lost your objective? Turn the tablet map over to read the objective and notes.

These details come from the publisher's demo instructions, not assumptions copied from Metro Exodus. Final controls and balancing may differ.

Do you need to play the earlier Metro games?

The earlier games are not required preparation. Deep Silver describes the new protagonist and cast as an entry point for newcomers, while retaining connections for returning players.

You play the Stranger, a former Spartan forced out of exile and back into Moscow's Metro. Hunter's Novoreich regime now controls its inhabitants through propaganda and fear. The story is written by 4A Games with Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky, rather than adapting one particular novel.
