Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Release Date, Races and Co-op

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is coming in 2027 to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. A month and day have not been announced. The confirmed features include six avatar races, with Android newly added, and online mission squads of up to four players.

The playable demo is at Bandai Namco's Road Tour events, not available to download at home. Some stops are free and others require venue admission; check the individual event before travelling. The store's email signup is not a preorder.

Which six avatar races are confirmed?

Bandai Namco's September 3, 2026 announcement names Earthling, Saiyan, Namekian, Frieza Race, Majin and Android. Your race determines your Awoken Skill, a race-specific transformation such as Super Saiyan. The complete transformation list is not public.

Race does not dictate every transformation: Bandai Namco says Soul Switch is not tied to your avatar's race. That system lets you take another character's form, while Awoken uses a form specific to your own race.

How you build your fighter

Mentors unlock techniques and styles for your avatar through this announced progression:

Collect MistyPix and use them to summon mentors through the Fortuneteller Gal.
Complete a mentor's quests to raise your Bond level.
Spend Bond points in that mentor's Skill Tree to unlock their attacks, Soul Assist, Soul Switch or Fighting Style.

Here is what each part of the build changes:

System	What it changes
Soul Assist	Calls in an ally when ready. The battle guide distinguishes assists usable while you are taking damage or in Ki Break from synchronized assists that cannot be called while you are taking damage. Check that restriction when choosing your support.
Soul Switch	Temporarily gives your avatar another character's appearance and techniques, including their Super and Ultimate Attacks.
Fighting Style	Changes movement and combos as a set, rather than one move at a time. The selected Soul shapes how you fly, guard and chain attacks.
Abilities	Come from gear, costumes, Souls and race. They can change stats, add Ki blasts, increase blast range or alter how far you evade.

Bandai Namco describes 130 characters to learn from. That is a customization pool, not a confirmed roster of 130 directly selectable fighters. Announced Soul Switch examples include Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, Future Trunks and Tien.

What changes if you played Xenoverse 2?

Do not carry over the old Super Attack resource rule. The Dragon Ball Official Site's June demo report explicitly says Super Attacks no longer spend Ki as they did in Xenoverse 2; each has its own cooldown. The September battle guide also describes separate skill gauges. Having Ki left does not mean a cooling-down Super Attack is ready.

Ki still matters for survival. Repeated Escape Vanish use spends it, while a correctly timed Perfect Guard prevents damage and restores some Ki. In the published controller layout, time R1 on PS5 or RB on Xbox with the incoming hit. Ki Charge uses both triggers; the separate Energy Charge Super Attack shortens other Super Attack cooldowns. They address different shortages.

Setting up Ki Break and Critical Strike

Use the attack's type, not just its damage number: Defense Breaker answers guarding, Ki Drain reduces enemy Ki, and Critical Strike attacks exploit an enemy already in Ki Break. The official demo report describes using Ki Drain first, then a Critical Strike-type attack once the gauge is empty.

Bandai Namco's September 11 guide also describes chaining Break Rush into an eligible Super or Ultimate Attack during Ki Break. Break Rush is a follow-up option, not a prerequisite for every Critical Strike. These are publisher-described prerelease mechanics, not findings from our own playtest; controls and features may change.

Awoken or Soul Switch?

You choose Soul Switch or Awoken Skill for the build, not both. The September 3 update says Awoken lasts while you have Ki and ends at zero Ki or Ki Break. The newer guide also contains time-limit wording that conflicts with that description, so the final duration rule remains unclear.

How does four-player co-op work?

The July 9 reveal shows a squad tackling enemy waves and then a boss. Four players means you plus up to three partners. Full-story co-op has not been confirmed, so the mission footage should not be read as a promise that every chapter supports your group.

If your group uses different platforms, wait for a cross-play announcement before choosing copies. A PS5, Xbox and PC release does not by itself mean those players can share a squad.

What is AGE 1000?

Dimps is developing the game. AGE 1000 is the new future setting, with West City as the hub for exploration, quests and meeting other players. Bandai Namco credits Akira Toriyama with bringing the new world and original characters to life.

Your hero joins the Great Saiya Squad. The West City reveal introduces Bulma and Gamma 1 alongside newcomers Brett, Lilica, ROM and Tap.

PC requirements and console performance

PC requirements and console frame-rate or resolution targets have not been announced. Wait for those details if hardware compatibility or a particular performance mode determines which version you can buy.
