How to take your photo

Use a clear portrait with your whole head and shoulders visible.

Use soft, even light. Face a window or a lamp. Avoid strong shadows and bright light behind you.
Keep the camera at eye level. Hold it about an arm’s length away. Taking the photo too close can distort your facial proportions.
Face the camera. Keep your head straight, eyes open and mouth closed, with a neutral expression.
Stand away from the wall. Leave some space behind you to reduce shadows on the background.
Choose a plain background. A wall that contrasts with your hair and clothing makes their edges easier to separate.
Keep your face visible. Move hair away from your eyes and check glasses for glare. Avoid beauty filters that alter your features.
